Low Carbon Economy
Developing infrastructure solutions for a low-carbon future
What we do
IVRI aims to tackle the challenge of greenhouse gas emissions by developing and investing in low-carbon infrastructure projects in Brazil.
As one of the world’s largest GHG emitters, yet home to one of the cleanest energy mixes, Brazil has immense potential to lead the global transition toward a low-carbon economy.
Our Verticals
- Clean Molecules
We aim to leverage Brazil’s agricultural strength and renewable energy mix by promoting the production of biogas and biomethane from organic waste, as well as green hydrogen and its derivatives.
- Carbon Capture
Over 70% of Brazil’s GHG emissions originate from forest and agriculture-related activities. Implementing Nature-Based Solutions is crucial for Brazil to achieve its net-zero goals.
- Renewable Energy & Storage
To meet the growing demand for electrification, additional power capacity from low-carbon sources is essential. We are focused on enhancing energy storage, grid services, and other solutions to support this transition.
Founders
Pierre-Emmanuel Moussafir and Gabriela Autilio began working together in 2015 when they launched Total Eren’s Latin America subsidiary.
In 2016, they secured their first wind project, Los Hercules, located in the Province of Santa Cruz, Argentina, through the Renovar 1 auction. By 2017, they had built their first Brazilian solar project, BJL 11 (25MW), in Bom Jesus da Lapa, BA.
In July 2023, Total Eren was fully acquired by TotalEnergies. At the time of the acquisition, the Brazilian branch had successfully completed 300 MW of solar and wind projects. It had also developed a robust pipeline of renewable energy projects, including both solar and wind, and initiated its first green hydrogen project, with a total of over 1 GW in development.
Pierre-Emmanuel Moussafir
Pierre-Emmanuel Moussafir began his career in the financial markets in Paris and London before launching several businesses in the energy transition sector. Until the sale of Total Eren, he held the position of CEO Brazil. He graduated from ESSEC Business School.
Gabriela Autilio
Gabriela Autilio served as Head of Construction and Procurement for over four years at Total Eren Brazil, managing a team of 30+ engineers between São Paulo and the company’s construction sites. She holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, specializing in energy and automation.
Our Biogas Company
After more than a decade of successful collaboration in developing renewable energy projects in Brazil, the founders of IVRI and the Eren Group have established Eren Biogás Brasil.
Eren Biogás Brasil focuses on the development, construction, and operation of biogas plants. Our objective extends beyond operating these facilities; we are committed to treating various types of organic waste and identifying the best applications for each case.
Our solutions include the production of energy, heat, biomethane, biogenic CO2, and biofertilizers. This partnership aims to meet the growing demand for biogas solutions in the Brazilian market.
